Description

Melkkos is a South African heritage dish and one that is much loved. Most South Africans have fond memories of their grandma serving them a mouth-wateringly creamy dish of Melkkos and for many expats it takes them right back to their childhoods spent in their beloved home country.

Ingredients

  1. Heat the milk in a well-sized saucepan until medium warm.

  2. Mix the flour and the salt. Rub the butter into it so that it looks like bread crumbs.

  3. Sprinkle these onto the hot milk and stir until well mixed.

  4. Heat to boiling point, then turn down the heat and let it simmer for 10 minutes over low
    heat until it thickens.

  5. The melkkos can be lumpy, in which case you can stir it with a hand-held beater until smaller lumps form

  6. CINNAMON SUGAR

    Mix the sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle it over the melkkos.
